You walked through the garden of the mansion that you lived in with your fiancé, Gilbert, admiring the shrubs that had been cut into various shapes by Gilbert's gardener. There was a horse, a lion, an angel, even a castle, and those were only your favorites. The garden was your favorite place in the whole mansion, and the only place that you could seem to find happiness anymore.

As you were walking, you heard someone calling to you. "Ms. (Name)!" the voice shouted. You tried to ignore it. Whatever you were wanted for, you were sure it could wait.

"Ms. (Name)!" the voice shouted again. It was louder this time, probably because it was closer. You recognized the voice as that of Roderich Edelstein, the head butler. You ignored him again and kept walking.

"Ms. (Name)," Roderich repeated, resting his hand on your shoulder gently, having finally caught up to you. You let out a small sigh before turning around to face him.

"Yes, Roderich?" you asked, trying your best not to sound annoyed.

"I'm terribly sorry for bozhering you, Ms. (Name), but Master Gilbert vishes to see you," Roderich informed. You rolled your eyes.

"And he couldn't come find me himself? He had to send you?" you asked, unamused. Roderich frowned.

"I apologize if I have offended you in some vay, Ms. (Name). I assure you it vas not my intention," he said apologetically.

"No, Roderich, you did not offend me. Gilbert did," you told him, sighing. "Where is he?" you asked, highly annoyed.

    "Zhe parlor, ma'am," Roderich answered.

"Thank you," you said. You nodded to him before walking back into the house.

You made it a point to walk as slowly as you could as you made it back to the house. If Gilbert had sent Roderich to come and get you instead of looking for you himself, obviously he didn't mind waiting for you. If he didn't mind waiting for you, then you'd make him wait as long as possible.

When you finally made it to the parlor, you threw the door open and made it very clear to Gilbert that you were not happy. Though, he rarely ever saw you with a smile on your face, so he probably didn't care. You may have been Gilbert's fiancé, but that didn't mean you had to love him.

"Ah, zhere you are, schatz! I've been vaiting twenty minutes for you!" Gilbert shouted once you had entered the room. He didn't even get up from his chair to greet you, but instead motioned for you to walk and stand in front of him. You obeyed, but every step you made showed defiance, as well as the look in your (e/c) eyes.

"It would've been faster if you had come to find me yourself instead of sending Roderich to get me," you pointed out accusingly.

"Yeah, yeah, vhatever. Just vait until you see zhe awesome present zhat zhe awesome me got for zhe awesome you today!" Gilbert shouted. You rolled your eyes again.

"Oh, another present. Lovely," you muttered sarcastically.

You'd been engaged to Gilbert for three years now, and every single day, he'd bring you home another gift to win your love. They never worked, though. Mostly they were just jewelry and fancy new dresses, but nothing that ever really said "I love you". You didn't even like half the gifts he got you. He knew nothing about you, and he had no intentions of trying to learn.

"Now close your eyes, liebe, and put out your hands," Gilbert instructed. You did as you were told. When you had, you felt Gilbert drop another chain into your hand, with something cold attached to it. "Now open," he commanded, and you did.

In your hands was a necklace on a gold chain. It had a heart-shaped (birthstone) with gold lining around it attached to the chain. There were two small (favorite jewel besides birthstone)s on either side of the (birthstone). Your eyes widened and you gasped when you saw it.

"I made it myself. Isn't awesome? You love it, don't you?" Gilbert asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

"No," you answered defiantly. You threw the necklace in his face before turning around and exiting the parlor.

When you exited the parlor, you ran to your room as quickly as possible. Gilbert made no attempt to follow you, nor did he send one of the servants after you. You ran into your room, slammed the door shut, and locked it.

As quickly as you could, you ran over to your dresser and pulled the bottom drawer out. Inside the drawer, there was a small, red velvet box. You opened the box, and inside there was a necklace exactly like the one Gilbert had given to you. There were only two differences between this one and the one that Gilbert had given to you. Number one, this one had something special inside of it. Number two, you had owned this one for five years.

Your former lover, a man by the name of Vladimir Lonescu, had given it to you a month before you had gotten engaged to Gilbert. He had made it for you, completely from his own designs. He had given you the drawings after he had given you the necklace. He had worked on the project for three months before the necklace was finally ready.

You rummaged through your drawer, trying to find the tube with Vladimir's drawing in it, but it wasn't there. Sure enough, the space where you usually kept it was empty. The drawing had been stolen. Your guess was that Gilbert had taken it.

Angrily, you slammed the drawer shut and let out an infuriated yell. You let out every single curse word you knew, all of them aimed at Gilbert. You couldn't believe he had taken something so precious to you, something that was one of a kind, and made a copy with the hopes of impressing you. He really doesn't know anything about me... you thought bitterly.

Suddenly, the phone rang. What is it now...? you thought, annoyed, but you walked to your nightstand and picked the phone up anyways. "Beilschmidt residence. (Name) speaking. How may I help you?" you inquired.

"Hello, (Name), my dear sweet princess. How are you? It's been a while," a man cooed from the other end of the line. You gasped and almost dropped the phone when you realized who it was.

"V-Vladimir...?" you whispered, shocked, confused and overjoyed all at the same time.

"Yes, my dear, it is Vladimir. I'm sorry if I have upset you..." he answered, his voice sounding so serene... It was like music to your ears. You savored every word he spoke.

"No, no, it isn't you who has upset me," you dismissed quickly, smiling softly, though you knew he couldn't see it.

"I'm sorry that you are upset, my love, but I have something for you that may cheer you up," Vladimir informed in a sing-song voice.

    "Oh?" you asked curiously.

"Indeed. Do you remember that old abandoned pottery shop in the shopping district? The one we used to hang out in when we were younger?" Vladimir inquired.

    "Yes," you answered.

"Good. Could you meet me there in an hour?" Vladimir requested hopefully.

"Yes," you replied firmly, your smile broadening.

"Wonderful," Vladimir whispered. "I'll see you in an hour, my love."

"Yes, see you in an hour."

Exactly an hour later, you arrived in front of the disheveled pottery shop where you were to meet Vladimir. The only person who had bothered to ask you where you were going was Elizabeta, the head maid. You had simply told her that you were going out for a stroll and would be back soon.

You looked upon the old building with fondness. Its pastel pink paint job was faded and dirty. There were patches of grey and brown all over it, as well as some graffiti, though luckily, it wasn't too vulgar. The windows were dusty and dirty and you couldn't see into them very well. The neon sign had been removed long ago, and the black awning was moth-eaten and torn. It was a disgusting looking place, but to you, it was sacred.

You took a deep breath before stepping forward and pushing the door open. The loud ringing of the bell that was attached to the door echoed throughout the room. "Hello...? Vlad...?" you called out softly, fully entering the room and shutting the door behind you.

When no answer came, you looked around the abandoned room for any signs of your old lover. There was dust and dirt on the floor and the walls were cracked, but the room was empty save for a few shelves with cracked pottery streaming them. It was such a shame to let a building that had once been so beautiful go to waste. Vladimir had wanted to buy it and turn it into an art studio, but he'd never had enough money to get the job done.

"Vlad?" you called again, this time, louder. Suddenly, you saw something moving out of the corner of your eye. When you turned to look at whatever it was, you saw nothing. You saw movement out of the corner of your eye again, and you felt someone run past you. You tried to find whatever it was, but you couldn't.

Suddenly, you felt someone wrap their arms around your waist from behind and you heard a long and quiet hiss... You gave out a loud shriek and turned around to see who had grabbed you. (e/c) eyes met beautiful, fiery red ones. You were face-to-face with your pale-skinned, red haired ex-lover. "Oh, Vlad, you scared me!" you exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, my dear, but a chance to do my Vampire bit was simply too good to pass up," Vladimir cooed, smiling at your shocked face. Your lips twisted into a slight grin.

"You haven't changed a bit," you whispered.

"I should hope not! Now come on! You must see the surprise I have planned for you!" Vladimir shouted. Without another word, he let go of your waist, grabbed your wrist, and began dragging you to the second floor of the building.

"Close your eyes," Vladimir commanded in a sing-song voice. You did as you were told, but Vladimir put his hands over your eyes just to make sure. "Now keep moving foreword," he instructed, and you did.

"Alright, stop," he commanded after you had taken a few steps. Vladimir removed one hand from your face, and you heard the sound of a door opening. He ushered you inside the new room before closing the door behind you. He removed his other hand from your face. "Now open your eyes," he whispered, and you did.

When you opened your eyes, you gasped at the sight around you. On every single wall, and the ceiling, and the floor, your name was painted in huge, elegant, rainbow colored letters. They sparkled like they had been sprinkled with fairydust. All around your name, there were beautiful scenes painted on the walls. Scenes that were so detailed they actually seemed real. A fantasy forest, a beach, a little village, a castle, a cave filled with neon glowing gems in so many different colors you couldn't count them, a sky filled with beautiful butterflies, also in many different colors. There was a whole world here in this little room, and you knew that it was all for you.

"Vladimir... I-I don't know what to say..." you whispered, your eyes darting every-which-way, trying to take in all of the beautiful colors. Vladimir chuckled.

"It's a shame we never got to see those places together for real, isn't it?" he asked wistfully.

"Yeah..." you replied, wondering how on Earth Vladimir had created such masterpieces. Then again, he did have his little... "talents", as he called them. You knew it was really just another term for "magic".

"Of course... W-we could still go... I-I mean, we could still go see the world together, like we dreamed of doing when we were young..." Vladimir suggested quietly. You stopped looking at the pictures on the walls and instead stared at him.

"Vlad, you know that's impossible. I'm getting married in three weeks!" you dismissed.

"We could run away together... We dreamed of that, too," Vladimir reminisced.

"Vladimir, we aren't together anymore. I'm with Gilbert now!" you exclaimed.

"But why?? You don't even love him! But you loved me! I know you did! So why did you abandon me for him!?" Vladimir demanded, his fiery eyes gleaming with a fury that you'd never seen before. Your eyes started watering, as did his.

"I'm sorry, Vladimir, but the answer is no," you whispered. Without another word, you turned around and ran away. You left Vladimir alone in the room, and he began to cry as all the colors in his beautiful paintings faded to grey.

For the next few days, you did nothing but sit in your room or walk through the garden. You hardly ate until Elizabeta started forcing you to. You refused to speak to Gilbert. Vladimir's words haunted you to the point where you couldn't think straight anymore. All you could do was think of him.

"But why?? You don't even love him! But you loved me! I know you did! So why did you abandon me for him!?"

Yes, why did you abandon Vladimir, the man you loved more than anything in the world, for Gilbert, the man you hated more than anything in the world? It was a simple answer, really. It wasn't because of his money or anything like that. No, you weren't a shallow person. You didn't care for Gilbert's fortune. It wasn't because you had once loved him. You had always despised him.

The reason was simple, yet unfair. You had not abandoned Vladimir of your own free will. You'd still be with him right now if it weren't for the fact that your parents, without your knowledge until three years ago, had betrothed you to Gilbert to repay a favor that Gilbert's father had done for yours.

When you had finally found out, you had been furious beyond words. You had fought your hardest to get your parents to take back the betrothal, but your father would have none of it. So now, here you were, unhappy and miserable with Gilbert instead of overjoyed and wonderful with Vladimir. And every day that you didn't get the courage to run away was another regret in your life.

Suddenly, there was a knock on your door. "Who is it?" you inquired boredly.

"Elizabeta, Ms. (Name)," was the answer from the other side.

"Come in," you urged, and she did.

"Ma'am, Master Gilbert vishes to see you. He's in zhe art room. He says he has somezhing to make you happy. I-I zhink you should give him a chance, ma'am," Elizabeta informed cautiously. You sighed. You had nothing better to do. Who knows? Maybe you'd get to throw something in Gilbert's face again. Without a word, you walked out of your room and towards the art room.

"What do you want, Gil?" you asked, annoyed, as you threw the door of the art room open.

"Ah, (Name)! Zhere you are! I vanted to show you zhe awesome stuff zhat I bought off of some poor ditz in zhe city. I'm sure zhey'll make you happy!" Gilbert exclaimed in a sing-song voice.

    "I doubt it," you mumbled.

Gilbert grabbed your hands and dragged you towards the supply cabinet. He opened the door and pointed to the middle shelf, where several medium sized cans of paint sat. The lids were off so that you could see the colors. They were so vibrant and so beautiful, and they sparkled like fairydust. There was only one man who could make paints like that.

"Where did you buy these?" you demanded.

"I told you, some ditz in zhe city," Gilbert answered.

"What was his name??" you asked.

"How should I know?? It's not like I go around asking peasants for zheir names. What's it to you, anyvays?" Gilbert inquired suspiciously.

"I don't like them," you said simply.

"Well you better like zhem! I paid a crapload of money for zhem and I had to give him my guitar, too!" Gilbert shouted angrily.

"I don't like them," you repeated firmly.

"Zhe ditz I bought zhem from said zhey vere magic. He said zhey'd make you fall in love," Gilbert mumbled disappointedly.

"They did make me fall in love. Just not with you," you whispered. Without another word, you turned around and walked away. As you did so, the color of the paints faded away.

Almost as soon as you had entered your room, the phone rang again. You sighed in frustration and walked towards it, wondering who on Earth could be calling you. However, you couldn't escape the feeling that maybe... Maybe it would be Vladimir again. Maybe you'd have another chance.

You picked the phone up quickly. "Hello?" you asked, instead of giving a formal greeting.

"Alo, (Name). I-it's me again... Vladimir... I-I know you must still be upset with me, but please, will you meet me in our place once again? Please?" Vladimir pleaded, his usually mischievously cheerful voice clouded with anxiety. You hated to hear him like that.

"Yes, Vlad, I will meet you. How soon?" you inquired.

"Oh, thank heavens. Can you come in an hour, again?" he asked.

"Yes, I can meet you in an hour," you answered.

"Wonderful!" he said. "You're going to love what I have planned for you today."

"I'm sure I will," you whispered, smiling softly, "and anything's better than here."

Vladimir cleared his throat awkwardly. You had a feeling that he wanted to make a comment on the subject, but he didn't want to risk upsetting you again, so he kept his mouth shut. Instead he replied with "Yes, well, hopefully by the time I'm finished with you, you'll be in a much better mood. S-so, see you in an hour...?"

"Yes, Vlad. See you in an hour."

"Vladdy...?" you called out, once again entering the old building and closing the door behind you.

"I'm over hear, darling," Vladimir shouted, and you could hear his voice coming from the back of the room. You walked towards him quickly, only to find him sitting on an old chair, strumming Gilbert's guitar, surrounded by stacks of paper money. He smirked at you.

"I knew he bought those paints from you..." you whispered.

"Yes, he did. We made a little trade. Now, he's the man with the magic paints that were made only for you, and I'm the man with the money and the guitar. I've changed myself for you, darling," Vladimir explained, testing out each of the strings on the guitar and tuning them accordingly.

"I never asked you to change, Vlad," you muttered.

"Well you apparently didn't love me when I was painting pictures for you. Maybe you'll love me when I can write songs for you and buy you fancy gifts, instead," Vladimir reasoned, trying not to sound bitter, but you could hear it.

"I did love you when you painted for me, Vlad. I don't want you to change. I don't like Gilbert's songs or his fancy gifts! I don't want any of that!" you shouted defensively.

"Then why are you still with him?? Why haven't you left??" Vladimir asked accusingly.

    "Because I can't!" you exclaimed.

    "Why not??" Vladimir demanded.

"Because I was betrothed to him!" you blurted out, and Vladimir gasped.

"...What...?" he asked incredulously. You sighed.

"I've been betrothed to him since I was a little girl. It was to repay a debt that my father owed to Gilbert's father," you explained.

"A-and you never thought to tell me this...? You never thought to tell me, before I went and gave my heart to you, that you were going to have to marry another man??" Vladimir demanded, anger, hurt and betrayal in his shaking voice.

"I didn't find out until the day I told you I couldn't see you anymore!" you shouted.

    "...(Name)...?" Vladimir asked quietly.

    "Yes, Vlad?" you replied.

"Do you love Gilbert?" Vladimir inquired.

    "No, I don't," you answered.

"Do you love me?" Vladimir asked.

You were silent for a few moments before answering "...Yes."

"Then please come back to me. Don't stay with someone who doesn't make you happy. You and I don't need anything except each other to get through this life. Please, let things be the way they were..." Vladimir pleaded.

"It's not that simple, Vlad," you dismissed sadly.

"It could be if you let it!" Vladimir shouted, making you flinch. Then, he sighed.

"Listen, (Name), I'm leaving this town tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going, but I'm going down to the docks and I'm buying tickets for the first boat that catches my eye. I called you here today to do one of two things. One option was say 'goodbye'. The other was to take you with me. The decision is up to you."

You were silent again. You wanted more than anything in the world to go with Vladimir and travel the world like you had always dreamed of when you were younger, but what would your father say? And what would Gilbert do when he found out, or if he ever caught you? Would something bad happen to your family because you were too selfish to uphold your end of the bargain?

    "I-I'm sorry, Vladimir. I can't. I just can't," you whispered.

"Very well. Then this is goodbye. I'll never forget you, my love. I hope you'll always remember me, as well," Vladimir said, somewhat bitterly. He put the guitar down and stood up. He walked towards you until your faces were only inches apart. Slowly, he leaned in and kissed you softly before turning on his heel and walking away.

You were in your room once again. You seemed to be spending most of your time there these days. You were sitting on your bed, holding the necklace that Vladimir had given you and stroking the jewel with your thumb.

When Vladimir had said he'd given you his heart, he didn't mean it figuratively. No, he meant it quite literally. While he still had a physical heart beating inside of his chest to keep him alive, all of the love, the emotions, the feelings, they were all sealed inside that necklace. He had given it to you to show you that you were the only person that he had ever loved, or ever would love. He gave it to you so that he could always be with you, even if he wasn't right beside you. He knew that once he gave it to you, he'd never be able to take it back, but he did it anyways, and you'd betrayed him.

You missed him. You couldn't deny it. You wanted him back. You wanted him more than anything in the world. Your stupid promise to Gilbert didn't even matter anymore. You'd never agreed to it in the first place. It was forced upon you. No, Vladimir was what you wanted, and that was exactly what you were going to get.

Quickly, you fastened the necklace around your neck. You grabbed your suitcase out from under your bed and threw it on top of your bed. You threw your closet and your dresser drawers open and started packing everything you could, including the paints that Gilbert had gotten from Vladimir. Vladimir was on his way to the docks right now. You could feel it. You didn't have much time.

As you were doing so, you heard a knock on your door. "Who is it?" you asked, a much more cheerful tone in your voice than usual.

"It's Elizabeta, Ms. (Name)," was the reply.

"Come in," you chirped. You didn't care if she saw you. There was no turning back now. Nothing was going to stop you.

"Ms. (Name), Master Gilbert vants to-" Elizabeta began as she entered the room, but she stopped when she saw you zipping up your over packed suitcase.

"Ms. (Name), vhat are you doing?" she asked incredulously.

"I'm sorry, Liz. You've always been such a wonderful friend to me, but I don't love Gilbert. I never have. My heart belongs to someone else, and I must go see him now," you explained, grabbing Elizabeta by the wrist and pulling her into a tight hug. She was shocked at first, but soon, she hugged back.

"Oh, Ms. (Name)... I knew zhis day vould come. I've always known zhat you vould leave Master Gilbert someday. I just vish zhat I could come vizh you. I'll miss you, dear," Elizabeta admitted.

"I'll miss you too, Liz, but I promise I'll write letters all the time! Maybe I'll come visit again someday!" you exclaimed.

"And I'll be vaiting! But... Vhat should I tell Master Gilbert...?" Elizabeta asked.

"Tell him that I ditched him for the ditz he bought the paints from," you answered, giggling. Your (e/c) eyes glinted mischievously at even the thought of Gilbert's reaction.

You let go of Elizabeta and grabbed your suitcase off of your bed. "Wish me luck!" you shouted, giving Elizabeta another quick hug before running away.

"Vlad!! Vladimir!! Vladdy!! Vlad!!" you screamed at the top of your lungs as you ran through the docks, searching through the sea of people in an attempt to find your lover. There were so many people here, and you didn't have any idea where he could be.

You clutched your necklace firmly in your hand. You could feel his heart beating against your palm. The beating seemed to grow stronger when you walked in one direction, and it faded when you walked in others. You figured that you could use the necklace as a guide.

I'm coming, Vlad... Wait for me, please...

With every step you took, the heartbeat got stronger and stronger. Soon, you weren't even looking where you were going. You closed your eyes and ran as fast as you could, following the necklace until CRASH!! You slammed into someone, sending both of you to the ground.

Rose: Heyyyyyyy my loves! :D Jaja, check it out~ This is what happens when I become obsessed with Romania for no reason at all XD Like, I finally learned the dance for Numa Numa last month at my dancing thing, and like, I've been wanting to do a songfic for it for a while. I just never really had an idea as to what shipping I'd want to do... Then I was all like "Heyy... This song was originally Romanian, right...?" so I was like "Maybe I should do a RomaniaxReader..." because duh, the song was Romanian, plus I really liked Romania's design and you people want me to do more things besides FACE crap (Because like the only people I write with are FACE... Actually more like just ACE I rarely do FrancexReaders xD ) so yeah, I decided to become obsessed with Romania o3o Okay, I like, reaaaaaaally really really like Romania. I love his design, I love the fact that he's part of the Magic Club, I love that most people portray him as a Vampire... I just love him to death <3 Although I have a weird pet peeve. I HATE pictures of him where he has brown/red-brown/grey-ish hair. Wow. I just hate it so much. Nope. He has to have red or blond hair, but preferably red. Him having brown-ish hair just ticks me off for no reason xD Also I really want to see a picture of him with long hair. Also for no reason. But that would be amazing. Anyways, this fanfic is like really really long... Like 13 pages o3o and that is extremely long for a songfic >.> The storyline is really intricate as well but I think I pulled it off quite nicely o3o Cuz like... To me, the song's always been about two guys vying for the same girl's affections. There's this "Duke" guy and then the "Picasso" guy, and the Duke is rich and Picasso is poor, and just like... Yeah... xD It took me a while to figure out who I wanted the Duke to be, but eventually I chose Prussia  It felt weird using Prussia here because I'm not used to making him the Gaston type of guy. I'm used to making him the macho sweetheart, not the narcissic jerkwad. I also felt weird making Austria the butler, but whatever xD This is my first time using Romania too, so sorry if he's OOC ;3; I love you guys~ Hope you love this fanfic~! :D

I love everything about this, the fact that you used my favorite country, the writing style, my most favorite song, the way you nearly broke my feels with (Name)'s betrothal to Prussia, the fact that you also think the song is about two guys after the same girl- everything.

I am favoriting this shit-.
